Tradie Tax Q&A

Can I claim laundry without receipts?

Laundry may be claimable for eligible protective or compulsory work clothing, but ordinary clothing is not deductible just because you wear it to work.

Eligible clothing

Protective clothing, compulsory uniforms and occupation-specific clothing can support a laundry claim. Ordinary jeans, socks and T-shirts usually do not.

Records and estimates

Small laundry claims may use a reasonable calculation, but keep notes showing how many loads, weeks and clothing types were involved.

Do not mix with dry cleaning

Dry cleaning and repair costs need stronger records where possible.
