Tradie Tax Q&A

Can I claim a laptop or PC for my ABN business?

Yes, for the business-use portion. Expensive devices may need depreciation rather than being claimed all at once.

Common business uses

Quoting, invoicing, ordering materials, bookkeeping, BAS, plans, email, cloud storage, and job scheduling can all support business use.

Work-use percentage

If the device is also used privately, claim only the business-use percentage. A simple usage diary or written estimate helps.

Repairs and accessories

Repairs, keyboards, headsets, monitors and accessories may also be deductible when used for business.

Where to enter it in TradieCalc

Use ABN mode and enter laptop / PC / tablet and computer repairs under Business Expenses.
